The practice

A small practice, run by the doctors who see you

Impulse Chiropractic is owned by Dr. Tarun Venkatesan, who sees patients every day alongside Dr. Erica Hilliard and Dr. Gage Pearson. Your first visit is a conversation and an exam. You hear what the doctor finds and what your options are before anything starts, and you can say no or stop at any point.

  • An exam before any treatment

  • Options and risks explained

  • Fees told to you in advance

  • Exercises you can repeat at home

Care we offer

What we do

Each starts with an exam. Your doctor explains what is involved before you agree.

  • Spinal adjustment

A quick, hands-on movement applied to a joint of the spine. Your doctor explains what you may feel, and the risks, before the first one.

  • Spinal decompression

You lie on a padded table while a harness applies a measured pull along the spine for a set time. Your doctor decides after the exam whether it suits you.

  • Corrective exercise

Movements chosen after your exam, practiced in the clinic first so you can repeat them at home with confidence.

  • Posture and desk advice

A look at how you sit, stand and work, with small changes to try between visits.

Who we see

Adults whose back or neck has been sore for a long time

Some of the reasons people book a first visit.

  • A back that keeps aching

It has been months, or it comes and goes, and rest has not settled it.

  • A stiff neck

Long hours at a desk or behind a wheel leave it tight by evening.

  • Less room to move

Bending, turning or reaching takes more care than it used to.

  • An old injury

Something from years ago still limits what you do.

  • X-rays only when medically necessary. Your doctor explains why before taking any.

Your first visit

From exam to plan, in order

The same four steps for every new patient.

  • Exam

Your doctor asks about your history and watches how you move.

  • Findings explained

You hear what was found, your options, the risks of each and what each costs.

  • A plan you agree to

Treatment starts only if you agree. You can say no, or stop, at any time.

  • Reviewed as you go

Your plan is checked at set visits and changed if it is not working for you.

Common questions

Short answers before you book.

What happens at the first visit?

You talk through your history and what you want from care. The doctor then examines how you move, explains what was found and goes through your options. Plan on 45 to 60 minutes.

What are the risks?

Some people feel soreness or stiffness for a day or two after an adjustment. More serious problems have been reported after neck adjustment, including a tear in a neck artery that can lead to a stroke. Your doctor will explain the risks before any neck adjustment, and you can say no.

How many visits will I need?

Your doctor can't know before the exam. After it you get a plan that says how often you come and for how long, and it is reviewed as you go.

Do you take my insurance?

We bill many PPO plans and some employer plans. Plans differ in what they pay for chiropractic visits, so our front desk checks yours before your first visit.
